Empowering Women's Higher Education Through UNDP Partnership

We are thrilled to present the remarkable achievements of our partnership with UNDP Somalia, a collaboration that is opening doors and creating life-changing opportunities for underprivileged women and girls in the diverse regions of Garowe, Galkayo, Bosaso, Qardho, and Buhodle within Puntland. We extend our heartfelt invitation to partners and donors to join hands with us in making a lasting impact in these communities.

Our Impact Across Puntland:

Comprehensive Scholarships: With the generous support of UNDP, we have been able to provide 30 female tertiary scholarship recipients across multiple regions with comprehensive scholarship packages, covering tuition fees, transportation expenses, and funds for essential books and school materials. This support has been a cornerstone in enabling these women to pursue their dreams of higher education.

Empowering Leaders: Our project goes beyond financial aid. We have focused on equipping scholarship recipients with essential leadership, communication, and advocacy skills. Our aim is to empower them not only to excel in their studies but also to become influential leaders within their own communities in Garowe, Galkayo, Bosaso, Qardho, and Buhodle.

Continuous Monitoring: Our commitment to ensuring the success of our beneficiaries is unwavering. We maintain contracts with partner universities in Garowe, Galkayo, Bosaso, Qardho, and Buhodle, actively monitoring students' attendance, progress, and graduation. This ongoing supervision guarantees that the support we provide is effectively utilized.

Investing in Education: The project's financial support encompasses tuition fees for two universities across seven campuses, ensuring access to quality education in different regions. Additionally, scholarship recipients receive crucial financial assistance for transportation, books, and school materials. This comprehensive approach has been instrumental in their success.

Graduates and Ongoing Support: Our partnership has seen the successful graduation of 13 scholarship recipients by January 2016, with continued support provided to the remaining 17 beneficiaries. As of the latest update, nine students are actively pursuing their higher education, with the support of the Scholarship Programme.
