Youth Thrive: Empowerment through Employment & Entrepreneurship Skills

Empowering Somalia's Future Workforce

Serving the Regions of Dangoroyo District, Waciye District, and Badhan

At FAWE Somalia, we are dedicated to fostering positive change in our community. Our latest initiative, the "Employment & Entrepreneurship Skills Development for Unemployed Youth" project, embodies our commitment to creating opportunities for the country's young and ambitious individuals.

Somalia faces the challenge of high youth unemployment, leaving many talented young people without viable career prospects. In response to this pressing issue, FAWE Somalia has launched a comprehensive program aimed at equipping unemployed youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's dynamic job market.

We are proud to collaborate with Diakonia Sweden, a key partner in this project, to enhance its impact and reach. Together, we are working towards the shared goal of empowering the youth of Somalia.

Project Highlights:

  • Our project provides unemployed youth, especially young women, with targeted skills training to empower them with management, entrepreneurship, and financial skills, increasing their prospects for employment or income generation through microenterprises.

  • We nurture a culture of entrepreneurship, particularly among young women, by offering mentorship and support to help them establish and manage microenterprises.

  • We work closely with industry partners to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, ensuring that young women have improved access to economic opportunities in Puntland regions.

Impact So Far:

We are proud to announce that this project has already supported 200 young individuals, especially young women, in acquiring valuable management, entrepreneurship, financial, and secretarial skills. These skills have not only reduced youth unemployment but have also contributed to gender equality and economic empowerment, offering new hope and opportunities to the youth of Somalia.

Get Involved:

FAWE Somalia invites you to be a part of this transformative journey. Whether you are a potential beneficiary, a partner organization, or a supporter, we welcome your involvement as we continue to empower the future leaders of Somalia, especially young women.

Join us in shaping a brighter future for our youth and the nation as a whole. Together with our comprehensive training initiatives, we can make a difference in addressing the unique challenges faced by unemployed youth in Puntland regions, particularly young women, and advancing their prospects for a brighter future.

Transforming Lives through TVET - "It is Not Too Late"

At FAWE Somalia, we are dedicated to advancing women's education, socio-economic development, and gender equality. Our major areas of operation encompass various initiatives, with a particular focus on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education and Training (TVET). This delves into our commitment to equipping drop-out girls with valuable skills for livelihood improvement and highlights the impact of our "It is Not Too Late" campaign. It also showcases our efforts to strengthen existing mother's groups and enhance their skills.

Our Mission:

FAWE Somalia is committed to unlocking the potential of women and girls through education, skills development, and empowerment. We focus on four major areas of operation:

  • Improvement of Women's Education and Socio-economic Development: We believe that educated women are the key to societal progress.

  • Provision of Professional Skills for Livelihood Improvement: Our professional skills training programs enhance employability and income-generating potential.

  • Capacity Building on Leadership, Gender, and Human Rights: We empower girls with leadership skills while advocating for gender equality and human rights.

  • Development of Journalism Manuals and Gender Manuals: We create essential resources for gender-sensitive journalism and knowledge sharing.

"It is Not Too Late" Campaign:

A Showcase of Impact: Our "It is Not Too Late" campaign exemplifies our commitment to Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education and Training (TVET). We target drop-out girls who are often left behind by conventional education systems. By providing them with skills for livelihood improvement, we offer them a second chance to achieve their dreams. The campaign received extensive media coverage, reaching over 1,000 viewers and raising awareness about the importance of TVET for girls.

    Strengthening Existing Mother's Groups:

In addition to our commitment to girls, we also invest in strengthening existing mother's groups. Our partnership with Garwo Women Organization Network (GARWONET) empowered mothers with life skills training, enhancing their capacities to support their families and communities.
