  • Zahra Nur, B.Sc, M.E.s

    Zahra Nur, FAWE Somalia's Co-founder, is a dedicated humanitarian with a strong commitment to building a better Somalia and supporting the most vulnerable. With over 10 years of experience working with women's organizations addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Canada and more than 20 years of dedicated service in Somalia for Diakonia and UNDP, her focus has been on women's empowerment and education. Zahra also served as a Technical Advisor on IDPs and Durable Solutions with NORCAP. Notably, she held the position of Minister for the Constitution, Federal Affairs, and Democratization in Puntland State of Somalia. Her profound expertise and unwavering dedication make her a valuable asset to FAWE Somalia.

  • Mary Muito, B.Ed, M.Sc

    Mary Muito, a Co-founder, boasts over 30 years of gender advocacy experience. Her impactful journey includes shaping the Kenyan Ministry of Education's Gender Policy and crafting Teacher Capacity Training Manuals. As a founding member of FAWE Kenya and FAWE Somalia National Chapters, Mary has been a driving force behind girls' education and human rights-based inclusive education. She's also a recognized authority in addressing gender-based violence and implementing effective prevention strategies. Her unwavering dedication to gender equality and educational excellence continues to inspire change, making her a formidable advocate for a more equitable world.
